not going to talk about any chapter or any questions today I will tell you how to manage time in accounts paper. Do you ever felt that you didn’t get enough time to finish your accountancy paper? You ever think oh it’s too lengthy and regretted too much time overthinking or you ever spent too much time on one question? Do you panic in hearing the warning bell? Do such problems bother you? This question is I suppose typically a problem for every student writing accountancy exam. No worries my dear friends here we are to help you , today we will give some important tips to manage your time in accountancy paper…!
Let’s begin1. Concept- You can complete your paper on time only if you know the basic funda/ concept of every topic is clear. If your concept is clear than it will take less time to solve any question. The secret of getting good Mark’s in accounts is that your concept should be clear ,then only you can solve any question.
- Practice – Practice the questions as more you can , it will clear your concept, bust up your
confidence and by practicing more it will take less time to solve any questions. - The 15- minute reading time- Firstly, you should know that the Board provides 15 minutes
extra time at the start of the paper, just to read the question paper. You can quickly overview
1-marked questions (8 questions) and mentally make the answers to them. - Headache Section A – As we all know their are 3 three sections in paper a,b and c (optional) so
it’s my personal advise to solve the section A firstly. Total number of questions in section A are - And you should start from question no. 17 and 16 firstly, it carry 8-8 Mark’s it is because in
starting our mind is soo much fresh, so you should finished this 2 questions within 30 mins. - Question no 15, 14 and 13 – After completing 16 and 17 questions your confident will increase
and your moral will bust up and then move to question no . 15,14 and 13 which carry 6-6 Mark’s
and again you have to solve this three questions within 30 minutes and after completing this 5
questions your 1 hour will finish and dont worry that in 1 hour you had solve only five questions
because this 5 questions are the major questions of accountancy paper. So Dont take too much
stress.Just believe in yourself. Everything will go well. - Question no. 12 and 11- After completing 6 and 8 Mark’s questions now you have to do
question no. 12 and 11 which carries 4- 4 Mark’s and if yours concept is clear than you can solve
this 2 questions within 15 minutes. Total time spend till now is 1 hour 15 minute. - Question no. 10, 9,8 and 7- This 4 questions carry 3- 3 Mark’s and believe me this 4 question
are very easiest and this 4 question will be easily completed within 30 minute. This question are
basically basic’s question mainly debentures and basics of Shares questions come under this. - Multiple choice questions- This question carries 1 – 1 Mark’s and believe me this questions are
gift for you all. It will only take 15 minutes to complete mcq questions . - Section B – Till now you have completed 17 questions and total number of questions are
23 ,so 6 questions are left now. So in this section again you should start from back side I;e
question no. 23 which is mainly cash flow question and it carry 6 Mark’s, if your concept is clear
than believe me it will take only 20 minute to complete this question.
10 . Question no. 22, 21 and 20 – This 3 question carry 4- 4 Mark’s and believe me this 3 question
will complete within 15 minutes . Now you will think how this 3 question can be solve within
believe me. You will think that 4- 4 Mark’s question will be so lengthy but it’s not like that, cbse
has changed the pattern they give conceptual question in this question and if your concept is
clear than it will hardly take 15 minute to complete this question . - Question no. 19 and 18 – Finally only 2 questions are left and it will hardly take 10 minutes to
complete it.. This question are the easiest questions of section B and it mainly basic question .
Believe me if any student follow this pattern then that student will complete his paper on time
and he will get some time to check his paper again..
12.ATTEMPT ANSWERS and presentation matters –
Attempt serially all the questions of particular sections.
Any question that has some parts should be attempted serially without skipping any question.
If students do not know the answer they can leave a space and try an attempt at the end
Highlight the answer number
Highlight the answer number properly or write them in the boxes.
Ideally, you should write ‘Answer to Question No.-1’.This will let the paper checker see your
answer quickly and easily thus he will be able to allow marks properly.
Leave 2 or 3 lines after finishing the answer
After finishing the answer leave 2 or 3 lines so as to separate one answer with the other.
This will help the paper checker to identify the next answer and there will be no chances to lose
marks.

TIP: Don’t waste your time in doing small 5-mark questions beautifully. just stick to the
formulae and be precise. don’t expatiate. it won’t fetch you a single extra mark.
PRO TIP: Read the question properly. some students (including me) think that they will save
time if they read the question quickly and jump to answering the question. but my dear, we
forget that we should always read the question at a slow pace and understand what is the
question really talking about .
